Riders for Health is a registered charity dedicated to help solve the problem of delivery systems for health care in Africa. Their aim is to put in place a sustainable and reliable preventive maintenance system for two and four-wheeled vehicles meaning that health delivery is never undermined by vehicles failing, no matter how harsh the conditions. A self-funded organisation with no government support, Riders for Health have worked for 15 years with ministries of health, UN agencies and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Its main resource centre is in the UK while all programme staff are nationals of the countries in which the organisation works. The organisation’s origins are in the sport of motorcycle racing and their successful fundraising and motorcycling events help support pioneering field initiatives, ensuring that motorcycles continue to save lives in Africa.
Day of Champions – one of the biggest events in the British biking calendar – is the main annual fundraising event for Riders for Health. Over the years, the event has become one of the largest outdoor fundraisers in the UK and is unique in that there is no other day like it, anywhere in the world, in any sport. Day of Champions is held at Donington Park race circuit on the Thursday before the British round of the Motorcycling Grand Prix where race fans are able to get behind the scenes just for one day.
Last year, the event raised £172,000 which made a huge difference to Riders for Health programmes, ensuring nearly 11 million people received regular health care. With the Day of Champions event growing in popularity, Riders for Health needed a stable and efficient customer relationship management solution as the existing contact management product simply could not cope with the number of users and volume of work.
Riders for Health chose avrion on the strength of its approach and understanding of what the organisation needed. The proposed solution needed to be implemented within a very tight deadline before the Day of Champions tickets were released for sale and Avrion’s clearly communicated business processes gave Riders for Health total project visibility at every stage that ensured the project was completed on time.
From the moment CRM was implemented, Riders for Health saw significant improvements as avrion designed the solution to exactly meet Riders for Health’s business needs. Emailing the monthly newsletter to all of Riders for Health’s member became very easy and took just 15 minutes, compared to previously taking the best part of half a day to complete.
Will all the information held in one central database, in-depth queries and updating records is much simpler. Events can be tracked easily which will help Riders for Health with future marketing activities. In addition, Riders for Health is now also tracking grant and sponsorship applications, something that they were unable to do previously.
The net result from investing in a CRM solution with Avrion is that Riders for Health operates much more efficiently. Future plans include remote access for their travelling CEOs.
