Why I chose an apprenticeship

I chose to do a multi-channel marketing apprenticeship because it meant learning real marketing skills while earning. I find it easier to learn and figure things out by myself than listening to someone explain it. So doing an apprenticeship is better suited to me, rather than going to college or sixth form. I am also not fighting over a teacher’s attention and being the only apprentice in the commercial team means I am surrounded by people who have a lot more experience than me and there is always someone to ask for help.

My first impressions of Avrion

My first impressions of Avrion were how supportive and close-knit the team was and that they immediately trusted me with meaningful work. I love that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone gets a say in decisions, my opinion feels valuable as my opinions are that of the emerging generation as I am nearly seventeen and have completed my GCSE’s a year ago.

Hands on experience from day one

Having hands-on experience from day one has made learning so much easier because I get to put everything straight into practice which helps me remember how to do it. Contributing to real campaigns, content creation, and social media means I can instantly apply what I’ve been taught, which helps it sink in much faster. Seeing real results from the work I do makes the learning feel more meaningful and boosts my confidence.

Growing confidence in my own abilities

I’ve really grown in confidence throughout my apprenticeship, especially as I’ve seen my ideas being used in real campaigns. Knowing that my input is valued and actually makes an impact has helped me trust my own abilities more.

Seeing the business behind the scenes

Seeing how the business works behind the scenes has helped me understand how each department supports one another and where marketing fits into the bigger picture. It’s shown me how much collaboration goes into every project and how marketing connects with teams across the company.

What I’ve enjoyed most

What I’ve enjoyed most is the variety of tasks I get to work on and the creativity involved in each day. It’s also been a refreshing change from the school environment – I have more independence, real responsibility, and the freedom that comes with earning my own money. This combination has made the whole experience really rewarding.

Challenges I’ve overcome

I’ve overcome a lot of challenges during my apprenticeship, including stepping out of my comfort zone, learning new tools, and managing multiple projects at once. One of the biggest adjustments has been balancing work and home life while working from home most of the time. It taught me how to stay organised, set boundaries, and keep a good routine.

Advice for future apprentices

My advice would be to work hard, keep an open mindset, and be ready to learn and adapt to change. An apprenticeship gives you so many opportunities, but you get the most out of it when you’re willing to try new things, ask questions, and push yourself out of your comfort zone.

My goals for the rest of my multi-channel marketing apprenticeship

My goals are to keep building my skills and continue learning new things. Most of all, I aim to grow professionally and create a good start to my future career.
